Description
The Critter is a very strong float designed for fishing heavier baits such as meat and corn fished on the deck. This float is built on a 0.8 diameter flexible fibreglass stem and has a double taper Tech3 foam body. The stem passes right through the floats body and into the 2mm diameter Hi Viz tip making this a very durable float suitable for venues where large weights of fish are taken at short to mid pole range.
This float can be fitted with a strong side eye, a standard spring eye or a Finesse type stainless steel spring eye. Best fished with a spread bulk and droppers and due to the 2mm diameter tip can be used in windy conditions with the bait fished “laid on”.
Available in four sizes 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 with red, yellow, green or black tips.
HB Top Tips
When making up your Critter rig use two float rubbers with them both positioned towards the bottom end of the stem. This allows the float to work as designed because when the line tightens on a big fish the stem flexes and this stops the line trying to cut into the corner of the body. Try it and see.
Designed mainly with meat and corn fishing in mind. Most effective when used within a distance from the bank that allows feed to be introduced by hand. The noise of a constant stream of six to ten pieces of meat hitting the water will attract any hungry fish in the area. If line bites become a problem shallow up the rig an inch at a time until you only get real bites.
